Rum Nation Réunion Rhum Traditionelle 13yr (Oloroso Finish)
This bottling of Savanna from Rum Nation was a Belgium-exclusive released in 2021. It was column distilled from molasses, tropically aged for nine years in ex-cognac, then continentally aged for an additional three years in second fill Oloroso barrels before being bottled at a cask strength of 59%.

Savanna Distillery in Réunion is, in my view, one of the most versatile distilleries in rum. Whether it’s cane juice or molasses, low or high ester, rested in stainless steel or aged in a variety of casks, Savanna does it – and usually really well.

Savanna is one of those distilleries I wish I had appreciated much more a few years ago, back before their surge in popularity and pricing. I’m a huge fan of the sherry-finished 2006 Savanna bottled by Rum Nation, and today I get to taste another IB Savanna: a grand arôme bottled by Danish company RomDeluxe.
